Empire Magizine has an exclusive interview with GDT, in it he revealed something about casting Bilbo ;D “I can tell you that it’s down to a few names that we all agree upon. And that our first choice…completely, magically, we said the same name. All of us!” They all said the same name Hopefully he takes the part!! But sadly, eh also said that we can expect at least a year before they announce any casting

Many sites are now reporting that none other then James McAvoy is the top pick for Bilbo! He was of course Mr. Tumnus in the first Narnia movie, he'll be in the summer blockbuster "Wanted" this summer, The Last King of Scotland (a personal favorite movie of mine), and perhaps his most popular role was in Atonement last year. Now keep in mind, while reading those articles (and some of the other peculiar names) that it does say that these are who the studio wants.....so not necessarily PJ and GDT

I knew he looked familiar!! Given enough time, I would have been able to figure out where I last saw him! lol I guess I wouldn't mind him as Bilbo. It'd be hard to get used to him playing the part and not Ian Holm, but that's the same with anyone. And like you said, it's the studio who wants him. And yes, I'm sure that someone will leak the information. ;D Nothing is sacred. Lucky for us. ;D

In an interview with Empire, Christopher Lee said “I’d be interested in seeing how that transition from good to evil occurred and, yes, of course I would return to the role if I was asked.” Read the whole article here
