If you could find me a site that goes into detail of this research I would be indebted to you! I have a forum where there is much posted, with links to many of the sources. I'll give you a couple links directly to the boards so you don't get sidetracked onto other subjects since the forum covers other spiritual & religious subjects too: indigocrystals.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=arwenindigocrystals.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=celebrianBoth these boards contain a lot of material. Some is theoretical/speculation where members ask questions about what a certain thing or place is, but much is based on real history of our world and how it related to the Eldar. You'll also find in there how certain authorities suppressed the elven history and twisted it, replacing it with the diminutivized version of "elves" most of us learn about as kids. And there's a lot of our own experiences there too!

Sorry I have to do things that way but originally I left the forum open for anyone to join but got spammers and other 'strange" folk So I changed my setting to require approval but kept a couple boards open so guests could post. I still got spammed, and worse yet i got spammed in Chinese and Japenese which came up as only scrambled letters and symbols! So I had to close everything off to posting until I approved members.

Every forum does things differently than others. And we've had some REALLY strange people too over the two years...you meet all kinds... ... worse yet i got spammed in Chinese and Japenese which came up as only scrambled letters and symbols! So I had to close everything off to posting until I approved members. Wow... Now that's something I've never experienced here... Hey, Eli, and you thought we'd seen it all!

So now if they join, and they're weird - Welcome to the family haha ;D The problem I had with that is people could come in and spam then leave. I have had to make people wait 24 - 48 hours sometimes, but at least I think the spammers are blocked. I'm not really too concerned with "wierd" people because we are all wierd in many ways. I just try to avoid complete nonsense like this: indigocrystals.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1147171798If you click the words in their message it leads to a site that tries to install a Chinese language pack. In one week I had a spammer post as a guest in several boards all with what looked like the same message. I deleted all but this one. I clicked a couple of the links and they just look like dating sites or music sites. I had to go into each board and change settings so these people couldn't post this stuff.

Ah, that could be a problem . Quite a problem. I have all my mods watching for stuff like that, and I practically eat them if they miss something lol (I swear, the must think I'm a woman Hitler ), so thankfully we've not seen any of that. We have had problems in our advertising threads before - back when we only allowed LotR sites, we'd have non-LotR site links; we'd have R sites, music sites, movies sites - even a few links 'gone bad' that originally lead to LotR sites but later on were taken over by dirty web owners..... we are very wary of that sort of thing now, and I have people check and recheck the links constantly.

Yeah we check the sites so often that we practically know them by heart. Ah can you imagine if I did actually have a life? ;D ha ha!

It looks like someone is DOS attacking my forum now... I get "Too Many Connections There are currently too many connections to this server. Please check back again in 30 seconds."
Funny when the most users online at any time I think were 12! I've done enough online business to know when it's a denial of service attack, which occurs when some idiot sends fake packets at your site to overload the server. Hmm... someone must not like what we are talking about there!

Actually the message about too many connections isn't talking about your forum, it means there's too many on the server your board is hosted on (Random pop-in, lol)

Gailrin Caniel Silifinu There have been a few sites up, and locations in New Zealand and Canada discussed but then the sites go inactive. Often I find Elven people are either already settled with families, or are so darn broke they couldn't afford to get their own land, let alone start a Rivendell. My wife and I have 8 acres but we cannot afford to even add on to our 12 X 21' cabin. there are a couple properties for sale nearby. One is about 12 acres, the other is about 23 acres. One connects to our property and the other has one neighbor inbetween who we are friends with... would be nice if some Elven folk could buy one or both of those properties!

I really think the environment of New Zealand is more appropriate for the situation....it would make living the life of a true Elf in Rivendell more homey to us. The territory is pretty much free range, and it'd be nice to have area for us to travel through on horseback.
As far as the financial situation, I had planned to put a group together now, make a site or something to keep us all in contact, and we all start working it out together. It's crazy to tell someone you have no connection with that they should come join and give their money to a cause they don't fully understand. If we go through with this, it's our lives. Anyone needs assurance in that area....it would be best to start finding people seriously dedicated to doing this and THEN working out the details about money.
If we are to do it in New Zealand, I would suggest going in a few years (all of our Elven brothers and sisters) after we have some money to do something. Buy the land, and then over the years piece together our home. Imladris was also known as home to Elves and the few good mortals, therefore anyone willing to help that is still not exactly Elvish but is...pro-Elf one might say, could still be welcome to join us in the event that they can make a true contribution. The task is not one for the weak or light-hearted. It would be difficult and take a lot of work, but together I really think we could do it....what do you think?

Gailrin Caniel Silifinu That's what I have said that even if someone isn't an Elf, but "pro-elf" as you say, they could join. But as far as my family we wouldn't be doing it in New Zealand I agree about the land and terrain there though. same goes for parts of western Canada and the northwest US.

*grins* Wow, I really can't believe there are other people as LotR-oriented as me lol!!! *shakes head again* I'm just glad to know I'm not the ONLY one going 'ooo, let's move out of the country and take all our LotR friends with us and start an elf colony' lol. And I think all that you said are good ideas, Cani. I think we ought to hold some kind of convention - because people would want to know who they'd be living with - and maybe draw up some rules/guidelines, look over properties together, decide how and what to build, etc. As you said, it'd have to wait a few years - mostly because a lot of us that are interested are too young - but I can't imagine anything more exciting! And then I'd have no family around, laughing at me and telling me to get my head out of the clouds, and I could wear LotR clothes 24/7 mwahaha! YAY ;D!
