(We're sowwy Galuwen; lol *I* think littles babies and younger kids are adorable!!! And you (always) have the right to express your opinion here, same as everyone else does!)
But Nienna, once again this is... scary.... how much we and our families are alike (even though my half are Southerners and your half are Yankees lol):
Thank you lol!
Well, we won't get into whether you're bizarre or not (love you lol ;D), but you and I are very like-mided. It's fine to have different preferences or desires than another person because - hello lol! - you're not the same person! You're different, and you shouldn't have to think the same or feel the same or want the same things!
lol do we EVER stay on subject anyways ?? And ya'll must be just like my family; lol Kris wants me to move to NY with her to go to college, but I like Oklahoma! Most of my family has stayed here (though if they've moved they prefer to stay in at least semi-Southern states: Georgia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Missouri, etc.) and we like it that way! We were born and raised here, and even if we only move from town to town (which is hard enough), we can still say we lived in the Heartland all our lives and loved it.
Wow, and I thought I was the only one lol! *I've* never been on a plane before either; and I've never been out of the South! And I like that the way it is too!
(lol I wouldn't want to go somewhere where they laughed at my accent or if you waved at some random person on the street or who was driving by (which we do) they'd be like 'what're you lookin at?', or not be able to let your kids go camping outside (whether for the unsafeness or the simple lack of land), or not be able to accept a ride from a stranger because is might be some kidnapper or something or not be able to leave your doors (house and car doors alike) unlocked or... well, any of the stuff that we are so blessed to be able to do!)
Well, neither was I, and I would love to travel too. I just always want to be able to know that I can come home - not just to the South, but to the Heartland of America - and always have a place there. (lol I love my state!)
*sings merrily*
Sing a song about the Heartland,
The only place I feel at home!
Sing about the way a good man
Works until the daylight's gone!
Sing the rain on the roof on a summer night
Where they still know wrong from right -
Sing a song about the Heartland,
And sing a song about my life!
There I agree. It would constantly be uprooting them, and it's not fair to them for the sake of their friends and the familiarity that they come to have with their home.
Wow sis, that was courageous! So I guess I can be too, huh? Well, here it is. The reason I wouldn't want kids - flat out - is because in the households I've been raised in, the answer to every problem or annoyance with a child is to
A) Knock them around
B) Make them feel worthless, foolish, and outright tell them you hate them and the burden they place on you
And as I have never really known anything else, that's the only way I would know how to treat them, and I will never put a child through that if I can help it .
Whew, ok... anybody else heh??
But Nienna, once again this is... scary.... how much we and our families are alike (even though my half are Southerners and your half are Yankees lol):
No, you don't sound like a child hater at all!!
Thank you lol!
And it makes me feel better that other people will agree with me about the reasons why I don't want kids because I've told people (outside this forum) and they just stared at me like I was this bizarre person. Everyone has their own preference and if I have kids, great. If I don't, that's good too.

One reason (how the heck did we get on this random subject? *checks thread* Well, I guess that I came to the right place for it lol) I've grown up in a family where everyone just wanted to stay put all the time.

I've never been on a plane before and I've NEVER been out of the northeast. I've never been more than 4 hours away from home (meaning while traveling...I have to be away from home more than 4 hours at a time obviously if I am to attend classes and actually LIVE at school lol ).
Wow, and I thought I was the only one lol! *I've* never been on a plane before either; and I've never been out of the South! And I like that the way it is too!

So basically all I've ever wanted to do my entire life was see other places, but I was never given that opportunity. So the thought of having kids fills me with dread.

- Kids need to attend school. Hence traveling would be extrememly difficult because it would mean that I would have to move around a lot. That makes no sense.
There I agree. It would constantly be uprooting them, and it's not fair to them for the sake of their friends and the familiarity that they come to have with their home.
- Kids need a lot of care and they are a lot of work. They should have plenty of attention, but I don't think that I would have the desire to give it to them. I didn't grow up spoiled from a lot of attention, so I'd probably be the same way with them.
