Well, This is my very first post on this forum and I am still finding my way around... Welcome Welcome!! ;D If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. You might have trouble understanding some of the threads because there's a lot of inside jokes, but we'd be happy to explain any and all to you. But not all at once because I don't want my head to explode...again... I suppose my stumbling across this site was quite unconventional...I actually read about this place today in a text book for a Uni course I'm currently completing. The article was titled 'Children Online: learning in a virtual community of practice', published in 2005 and featured this online community forum as a case study of what it means to be an effective 'learning community' run by teens, for teens. *GASPS* This article...was it written by someone named Angela?? If that's so, then that has to be the article that a few people here were interviewed for. WOW!! That's incredible! Our community featured...and PUBLISHED!!! Oh and not just teens run this place...*glances at birth certificate* Angela started doing online interviews in September of 04...I didn't think anything became of it because I think she may have left our site and then we didn't hear anything. Thank you so much for sharing the information with us! I think that I won't be the only one very, very happy. ;D So! Not your average google-search find, no, but the article was so intriguing that I guess I just had to come and see this place for myself! Wow!! A whole new way of advertising this place!!! Who knew? ;D Congratulations to the owners and co-ordinators of this site, for creating such a successful, passionate and inspiring community! Aww You're so nice!! ;D *Gives everyone a slap on the back* PS - Love Tolkien too! - I remember reading books like Roverandom and The Hobbit for the first time about 10 or 11 years ago...and have since created quite a collection ;D Ooooo I've never heard of Roverandom before so you'll have to enlighten me, and I've gotten through about half of The Hobbit. I'm trying to broaden my own collection as well. But it isn't easy with little time/money. Once again, welcome to the site!!! ~ Nienna #bighug_smilie#

Well hello there! *laughs merrily* I KNEW that article would pop up somewhere..... as my friends put it, since I'm a rather good girl, it was my version of 'those pictures of me at the beach' haha. And now it has - only, unlike said pictures, this came back in a GOOD way lol. Welcome! We are very happy to have you, and very pleasantly surprised and thankful that you found our site so appealing! We hope you'll get your bearings here quickly - the sooner you find everything, the sooner you can join in! - and that GotE, perhaps, will help your study along. We have gone a bit crazier since Anya (Angela's nickname) interviewed some of us, so you'll have to pardon the bits of madness and insanity that seem to pervade everything lol - but if you don't mind that then hopefully you'll join in as part of our family and enjoy yourself! And thank you for your kind words about our site! We do throw everything we've got into it, and we're glad our labors our bearing good fruits . So it's really in a textbook? How exciting! I, as you may have gathered, am 'Elianna'; or Nicole, if you prefer. *smiles* Wow, I have to send my thanks out to Anya for her publishing that. This is a new recruiting technique lol. Well, welcome again, and if you have any questions, feel free to talk to anyone around here! Edit: Oh, darn, Nienna beat me to a welcome..... apparently we were writing at the same time and she types faster lol. Oh well....
