Ok, this is a fanfic story I wrote. Its not really dealing with Lotr, but oh well. It's pretty good. Even my evil english teacher said so, and that's saying something, seriously. So here it is...
The Wanderers Part 1
It was a bright, sunny day in the forest and Benn and Adan were by the river picking berries. They were elves. The fairest beings alive and nothing could stand against them, nor did they try. Elves were immortal and they held grudges. If your great-great-grandfather had insulted an elf in any way, that same elf or their heirs would be after you. Elves hated men, for men cared nothing for the forests, for the sea, or for the earth. Elves loved the earth and had a longing for the sea. Most elves dwelled in forests, but some were diffident wanderers who explored the many places of the earth. Anyway, enough about elves, let’s continue the story.
Benn and Adan were best friends and they did everything together. Adan was the king’s son and Benn was the king’s servant’s son. They would both become powerful people in their civilization one day. But Benn and Adan were tired of their boring lives and wanted adventure, myth, and combat.
“I want to visit the mountains one day!” exclaimed Benn. “I hear there’s a lot of morbid goblins and wolves throughout there. Here it’s boring. All we do is gather food and do work for our parents. We never have any fun or any adventure. It’s the same thing every day!”
“I know, but if we leave, my father will be angry and he’ll send out scouts to find us. And if we’re caught, we’ll be in big trouble and might even be banished!” yelled Adan.
“But if we’re banished, we can find the Wanderers and join forces with them!” Benn said happily.
“What forces?” Adan joked. The Wanderers probably wouldn’t even accept us, plus how will we find them? They travel everywhere and never stay in one place for more than a slin* or so.”
“Maybe they wouldn’t accept you, but I’m sure I fit all of their qualifications. Just look at me! I’m great!” Benn said, thinking highly of himself.
Adan scoffed. “Sure, whatever,” Adan said mockingly.
“Well, think what you want, but your just jealous because you’re not as good as I am,” Benn suggested.
“Uh huh, that’s it, you’re just so much better than I am,” Adan said sarcastically. But for now, I think you should get picking those berries. You don’t have any! If you want to be such a great warrior, you not off to a very good start. As for me, my basket’s full, I’m going back to the village.”
“What?! How’s your basket full? We haven’t even been out here an hour!” questioned Benn.
“Well maybe I’m just better than you. See you later!” said Adan as he walked towards the forest.
*slin is the elvish equivalent of about a week or so

Later on, when Adan got back to the village, he came across Mithflin, Benn’s mother.
“Have you seen Benn?” questioned Mithflin, sounding very worried.
“Not since I left him picking berried by the river, why?” Adan asked.
“He’s missing, we can’t find him anywhere in the village.”
“Oh no, the mountains!” Adan thought. “I’m very sorry, if I see him I’ll tell him you were looking for him,” Adan said.
“Thank you very much,” said Mithflin sounding even more depressed.
But as soon as Mithflin went off searching again, Adan went home and packed, if Benn went somewhere, than Adan was going too. He couldn’t help it, he was an only child and his only friend was Benn. “There was nothing else to do and besides, Benn was right, things around here were pretty boring,” thought Adan. Adan was a fast runner and would run without stopping for an hour at least, so he knew he could catch up to Benn and the scouts didn’t know which way they were headed anyways. He’d find Benn and have a little adventure! This’d be fun.
So when he was done packing and was sure no one saw him, he set out and ran as fast as he could out of the village, his long brown his blowing in the wind.

Benn was running at an amazing speed. He kept running on and on until he came to a strange forest that he had never been to before and suddenly, he was scared. He stopped running and started walking very slowly. It was a dark, morose forest and it looked magical. He was frightened. And there he swore he heard a strange voice in his head, some creature was singing, but the music was not like the music of his own people, it was different as if magical, and something hit him across the head and he fell to the ground and remembered nothing more.
* * *
Adan was safely out of the forest and he was crossing Nimfoglë River when he saw Benn’s basket of berries not even halfway full.
“Ha!” he laughed. “I knew that Benn wouldn’t even think of filling it or at least hiding it.” But I might as well take it with me now, some food for the road.”
And then he ran as fast as he could hoping to catch up to Benn. Little did he know, he was going the wrong way.

When Benn awoke, he was inside a small log cabin that looked ancient. There was a table and a rocking chair and a small fire going in the other room, but no sign of life existed. He got up and noticed a bruise on his head.
“Where am I?” he said out loud.
“You are in my house,” said a strange voice from the darkness. My name is Joslinter. You took a nasty fall back there, thanks to those wogs. They can eat anything if they’re hungry enough and you’re lucky they didn’t eat you! If it hadn’t been for me, you wouldn’t be here right now. Luckily, my singing scared them away, yes it was singing and it is I who takes care of this forest. Niklin Forest is what it is called. This forest is magical and there are many creatures in it, but do not be afraid, for nothing stands in my way if it knows better. You are safe here. Now, is there anything I can get you?”
Astonished, Benn answered, “Well, I’m a bit hungry,” remembering that he’d forgotten his basket of berries by the river. “Who is this person?” thought Benn. “Or is he a person? He is very strange and garrulous too. But he did save my life so I guess he’s not a bad fellow.”
“Alrighty then, come here and I’ll feed you. I have plenty of food. Corn, squash, deer, lamb, goat, beans and much more. What would you like?” asked Joslinter.
“Deer and corn please, sir,” said Benn.
Joslinter walked towards the table, now stepping into the light. He was a stout fellow. He had red hair and a long red beard and was very short for this matter, almost as short as Benn, but of course, Benn was very young, not even fifty. This creature looked ancient and very glum, but he was nice enough and very didactic.
As Joslinter prepared the food, Benn studied the room very closely. On the walls, he noticed a huge deer skin and a big bear head along with many different trinkets. It was a small room and he noticed a very small door, it was yellow and was round. “How peculiar,” he thought.
“Dinner’s ready!” exclaimed Joslinter seeming very munificent.
As Been rushed to the table, he smelled the scent of roasted deer and corn on the table.

Adan was racing across the plains. Surely he’d catch up to Benn sooner or later, as Benn was a slow runner anyway.
Soon he came to a small stream where he saw many trees. And there was one person which looked like an elf. The elf saw him and ran, but Adan was too quick for him and ran after him. When Adan caught up to him, there were many other elves. They looked at him with curiosity and he felt like a cow in the middle of a ring of wolves.
“The Wanderers!” he thought.
Soon a tall elf with a strange hat came towards him. “Who are you?” he said in a stern voice.
“I-I-I’m Adan sir” he said both frightened and hesitant.
Then the elf turned towards the one that Adan was chasing and gave a long diatribe. “Why did you bring him here? You were supposed to be getting berries and firewood not searching the river. You are lucky he’s not a man! I will not banish you from our group, for you’d have no where to go, but do not be this foolish again, lest you plan on getting yourself killed,” yelled the tall elf.
Then the tall elf turned to Adan. “Welcome to our group, we are called Wanderers. You’ll have to stay with us until we know we can trust you and you will not say anything to your kind. I’m Birgindil, the leader of the group. Now, let us go over the mandatory rules and tests. Come with me.
