The biggest glaring difference is that there were no elves who came to the rescue in the book. Not sure why the movie decided it was needed.

I know I can't believe they killed Haldir! That was so mean. What made them decide that? Yeah, also one of the biggest differences was when Gandalf said " Look to my coming on the first light of the second day (or something rather)" and he had Eomer and the Rohirrim with him. In the book, Eomer was right there beside Aragorn's side. Also to me it seemed the battle at Helm's Deep was a little shorter than they made it seem in the movie. In the book, it seems that the battle goes by alot quicker.

Poor Haldir... I really can't remember all that much of reading FotR because it's been awhile, but I don't know how much Tolkien put him in the book. PJ might have also taken away extra screen time that he should have gotten. But that wouldn't really surprise me at all...They took out all the good people!! Hmm let's see (and everyone is welcome to add to this ever-growing list) - Tom Bombidil (spelled something like that : - Elrohir - Elladan (it ticked me off to see them skipped over!! - The Barrowwrights (I can't remember them almost at all, but hey it's another thing that was left out!!!) - The Dunedain ~ Nienna
