Ok guys, here you can say what changes that you didn't like when it comes to the movie. We all know that PJ changed quite a bit. I was actually one of those people that saw the MOVIE first before I read the book, so I was actually partial to the movie a bit more for a while. It's been a while since I've read the book, so I don't remember too many of the changes. But one thing that I'll never forget is how much LONGER the Council of Elrond was compared to PJ's condensed one!

Yes, I would have prefered the Council of Elrond to have been longer, well actually, I think it was fine the way it is, but I wished PJ had showed Glorfindel and Erestor ::goes off in a fit of drools:: and Glorfindel instead of Arwen. Arwen really isn't even a big character in fotr (at least not in my view point). Also, I wish they had Tom Bombadil and Gildor! Anyway, enough of my ranting

I completely agree with you. I would have definetly liked to see Glorfindel. I don't even think PJ showed him ONCE during the entire trilogy (unless he was hiding in the back somewhere with the rest of the extras)! The movie audience lost out on a fantastic character from the book.

My point exactly, and think about how many book fan girls there are that would have drooled to see Glorfindel. Supposedly he was with Elrond during the coronation (RoTK) , but some say it wasn't. I don't know why they just cut him out like that, it really made me angry. I mean, they could have at least stuck him in during CoE, instead of having all these nameless Elves.

I totally agree!! i was one that saw the movie before reading the book but after I read the book, I was really angered that they didn't have Glorfindel or Tom Bombadil at all!! I mean I liked Liv Tyler (arwen) and thought she was really hot for a while but I soon got over that and I wished they would've put Glorfindel instead of Arwen.

I agree too...I would have loved to see Gildor or Glorfindel (even if he is supposedly in the movie as an extra or whatever it's just about the same as being left out entirely- with his name not being said at all, you know? They could have at least done that..) and Tom Bombadil as well. I also really missed the old forest and the barrow-downs.. And, I can't forget Arwen. *My* opinion: She had too many scenes. (understatement )

I love the movies but I think that Peter did a rubbish job at portaying the Balrog. It was nothing like the book described it.

Peter Jackson did excellently compared to what other producers would have done. He added and removed some things for a reason, and it's not like it didn't work out or anything.
The many scenes with Arwen and Aragorn were supposed to show the hardship things that they had to face and how nothing could break their bond. The Balrog was decent. It could have been better, but I'd have to say that he did brilliantly. You can't say that it is rubbish, Earwen, because everyone imagines things differently - even if the description is extremely detailed - and it just so happens that this is how Peter Jackson saw the Balrog. It was more or less how I pictured it as well.
Gildor and Glorfindel both showed up in the movies, though they did not have any lines.

Gildor and Glorfindel both showed up in the movies, though they did not have any lines. And their names were not even mentioned, which means its like they weren't there at all. There were TONS of extras as elves, and it could have been any of them, or none of them

They were there. I read the books before I saw the movies, and honestly, I really prefered if they were given the speaking roles they had in the books. They are great characters and really didn't deserve to have their roles cut out. I'm not so happy about the Lothlórien scene either. Haldir's role was way too cut down when you actually think about how long it is in the book. Movie wise, it took out of good parts that really should have been in there. Also the way Haldir was introduced in the movie, it was too random, with all do respect the book version of FOTR was better.
