Hey guys,
A few of you know this already, so those people can completely ignore this if they want so that I don't start sounding like a broken record. For the past few months I've been working very hard to get an internship for the summer. I'm an art major, so applying for horticulture, ecology, and conservation internships was both intimidating and a bit discouraging. I didn't think that I had much of a chance, especially when you consider all the other qualified science students who also apply for these things!
Well, turns out that my wish wasn't so far-fetched because I called the internship place at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in PA and I found out I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'll be there from June 15-August 15 studying birds of prey, and working in the field as a scientist/artist helping to sketch out anything that they need a reference for. And on top of that, I get a dorm-type place to live in on the property with the other interns and scientists and $600 a month as salary. ;D
This is a dream that just a few years ago I would never have believed was possible.
When I was compiling my resume, I also had to supply them with three references of past professors, so that if the place had any questions about me they could just call them up and double check to make sure I was a good candidate. I've talked to all three of those teachers over the past few days and each of them has told me that they've recieved NO call, letter, nothing...which means that they accepted me on the basis of my essay, resume, and cover letter. An art major got a science internship on her OWN!! Just goes to show that ANYTHING in this world is possible!!
