Do you have a chapter that you liked more so then others? Or a certain quote/section? Why? (must be from FotR)Personally, I don't think I can decide. I love FotR, and if I had to narrow it down to favourite chapters it would be, 'A Long Expected Party, or The Mirror of Galadriel, but then I also love 'In The House of Tom Bombadil'. I would lean more towards any chapter that focuses on hobbits though, like 'A long expected party.' ... (I love 'The shadow of the past' also!) *sigh* I definitely do have some favourite quotes, I'll come back and post again later...

Hope you don't mind the FotR EE... This is my favorite: "One small bite is enough to fill a fully grown man." "How many did you eat?" "4" I like it because it is really funny, and it has my two favorite characters: Pippin and Legolas lots of luv and hugses, *~Lily~*

I love all the Hobbit lines in the films! Well, except, ''Go home Sam.'' (it doesn't match Frodo's character in the book, you see. -though i *have* forced myself to accept why PJ did it- to add drama..or..tension ... but still.. ) Well, I really do hope you do get to reading the books, you will love them!! ;D And I also love ''Three is Company''!

No offence, but sometimes I got really angry with Frodo, and wanted to kick him for hurting poor ol' Samwise. They showed Frodo being more...mean, than suffering, at least in my honest opinion. If you hadn't read the book, I don't think it would make sense how much suffering Frodo had gone through and why everyone was saying "For Frodo". Anyway! Any part with Glorfindel and Erestor and Elrond...oh yeah! And you know why Aredhel ::nudge nudge::

I really liked it when Gandalf faces the Balrog, not because I don't like him, but because he's quite valiant in sacrificing himself to save the fellowship.

I loved the whole thing but I really loved Lothlorien and while their there. I also liked when they met Strider, as for quotes I loved Tom Bombadil's songs and stuff and I loved Ho ho ho to the bottle I go, to heal my heart and drown my woe..." As for characters, i Loved them all except for the bad ones.

lol ;D Actually I agree with you about how Frodo was portrayed in the movies(for the most part). Especially in RotK...the changes that were made to it definitely did not explain why Frodo was treating Sam like that, and since the movies took it much farther than the books with the whole, go home sam scene(! ), I felt like there should have been something to show why he was acting like that (esp. since it's not even like his book char(!)). And then, after that you have Frodo & Sam's relationship meaning far less since it is not explained enough that it was due to the Ring's effects and not just a mean!Frodo. ( !!) I agree also that Frodo's suffering in the movies was not expressed or shown enough and I think it takes away so much from the story(!) and especially his character.

What is my favorite quote from the book, Ared! That's too hard a question to ask of me! I can't just pick ONE! LOL But one that really stands out for me the most is when the Hobbits and Aragorn are all journeying from Bree to Rivendell. Since it's been a while since I've read the book, I can't remember the quote exactly, but I remember it's when Sam (?) is discussing with Frodo whether or not they should trust Aragorn, or even if he is who he says he is. Aragorn hears everything that is being said, and turns around to say something to the affect of "well, what if I'm NOT the real Strider? What if I've killed him??" I really love that because you can really feel the Hobbit's fear, especially Sam's. Also, since I was one of those people who saw the movie before I read the book, naturally being nieve I thought the characters would be EXACTLY the way they were in the movie as they well as in the book. In my own opinion, Aragorn, or Strider seemed different to me...I can't place it...but perhaps it was the aura of power that Aragorn in the movie seemed to have that I thought the book character lacked (just a guess, I don't remember! Don't kill me for saying that! Put away the hoppit chopper! ) But in this part, Strider seems to take on the characteristics that I had come to love in the movie's character and that was just wonderful!! ~ Nienna

Anyway! I think that was all the director's imagination. In the book the great weapon that brought down the mighty Sauron was the friendship between a gentleman hobbit and his gardener. No malice in all of Mordor could overcome that. Frodo was always long-suffering inspite of all the burdens he carried. The film sought to queston his loyalty to Sam in the name of expedient dramatic effect and that kind of undermined what the whole story was about. I was also annoyed by the way Denethor was shown as so one-dimensional when he is one of the most interestng characters in the whole book. A real Shakespearean-type conflicted ruler. Anyway probably my favorite line is, "I will take it, although I dont know the way". It just takes all the great deeds of the elves, men and dwarves and puts them in perspective. The hour of the halfling has arrived.
