I completely agree, The Silmarillion would be too complicated for a movie or even 10 movies. (can you imagine if there were 10? *sigh* It would take 10 years to film it! I'd wait that long.) Lol, but I don't think that many people, other than fans of the books, would be so interested. I also think that it would be best to leave some of Tolkien's writing out of the film industry. Kinda like preserving the original... *trails off* I have no idea what I'm talking about now. Anyway, I think that it would be best if Hollywood left The Sil alone; I'll be happy enough when they get around to making The Hobbit. ;D -Din

Wow that would be so great if they made a movie for the Silmarillion! I would be the first one in the theatre. I also wish they had made one for The Hobbit (not including that lame cartoon version). Anyways, I really hope they come up with a movie for it, and I hope it is directed by Peter Jackson because it'll be the same style as LoTR.

I really dont think it will be possible to make a movie out of Silmarillion. It is just far too complex! Even so I find myself thinking about how the different stories could have been filmed, like the history about Beren and Luthien, and/or Turin Turambar (Sigh). Still there weren't (sp?) really so many people who read lotr before the movie (though I just finished each of the three parts Right before they were made ;p) so maybe a movie about silmarillion would make people read silmarillion?

Oh yes most definitely. It's a great book filled with alot of great stories. Though sadly if they were to make a movie out of it, alot of stuff would have to either cut down or removed cause it would be way to long of a film.

I agree with most of ye, that the Silmarillion would be impossible to film. Even if someone did try to film it, I am most certain it would take more than 10 films, more than 15 years,(due to digital effects, hiring actors, getting equipment). What I would rather see done from the Silmarillion, is some of the more magnificient stories, like the ones about Fingolfin and his duel with Morgoth.
